Getting started with Plusy
A grown-up makes one free account at plusy.app, your child taps their age and answers a few questions, and Plusy opens the five roads at the right place. It takes a few minutes and there is nothing to install.
Who makes the Plusy account?
A grown-up makes the Plusy account, never the child. A parent or guardian signs in with their own email address, and that one account holds one child's profile: one name, one age and one set of progress. Plusy runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install: see using Plusy on a phone, tablet or computer.
How do I sign in for the first time?
You sign in to Plusy at plusy.app/login, on the screen titled Welcome to Plusy. You can continue with Google, or create an account with an email address and a password of at least 8 characters. An email account must be confirmed from a link in an email before the first sign-in.
Open the sign-in page
Go to plusy.app/login in any browser. Start free: no card is asked for.
Choose how to sign in
Tap Continue with Google, or tap Create an account and type your email and a new password.
Confirm your email
For an email account, open the message from Plusy and tap the link, then sign in. If it has not arrived, look in spam or promotions, or tap Resend confirmation email.
Forgot the password later? You do not need to reset it. Tap Sign in with a code instead and Plusy emails a code that works once, for up to an hour. More in account and sign-in.
What does Plusy ask a new child?
Plusy asks a new child two things, once: their age and what to call them. The age question, How old are you?, has seven tiles from 6 to 12+, and one tap picks. The name question, What should we call you?, can be skipped, and a first name or nickname of up to 20 characters is enough.
What is the first round for?
The first round is a short placement round of up to 5 questions that finds where your child should start. The age gives each road a starting world, and the answers move that start up or down. It uses no heart, pays no coins, and is never called a test on screen.
A wrong answer here simply shows the right one and moves on. There is no skip button, but closing the round with the X is fine: Plusy places your child with what it has learned so far. Then a short screen, Let's start here, leads to the road with Continue.
Let your child answer alone, even if they hesitate. If you help, Plusy starts them on work that is too hard. The placement happens once; to move later, see the five roads and their worlds.
What are the five tabs?
Plusy has five tabs: Home, My lists, Games, Shop and You. On a phone they sit in a bar at the bottom of the screen, and on a wide screen they are in a sidebar. Your child will spend most of their time on Home.
| Tab | What is there |
|---|---|
| Home | The road your child is on, with the next level to play, the daily goal and the streak. |
| My lists | Your own math lists, such as this week's homework. You can type one, have Plusy make one, or scan a worksheet. |
| Games | Pick a game, then pick the facts to practice. See the games. |
| Shop | The streak freeze, bought with coins, and Unlock Plusy. |
| You | Your child's name, and the Grown-ups card with settings, the account and sign out. |
What should my child do on day one?
On day one your child only needs to play the next level on the road. A round is a short set of questions, and after every answer Plusy shows whether it was right, with the answer and a trick to remember when it was not. A round uses one heart, and wrong answers cost nothing extra: see what hearts are.
Questions
Is Plusy free to start?
Yes. Every road, world and game is open on a free account. Hearts set how much free practice there is in a day, and one payment, Unlock Plusy, removes that limit. See unlocking Plusy.
Can two children share one account?
One account holds one child's profile, with one name, one age and one set of progress. There is no way to switch between children inside an account, so a second child needs an account made with a different email address.
Does my child need their own email address?
No. A child never signs up. The grown-up signs in with their own email or Google account, and the child plays inside that account.
We picked the wrong age. Can we change it?
Yes, on the You tab under Grown-ups, Settings, Age. That changes the lists Plusy suggests but does not move the roads. To move on a road, open Worlds and go to another world or take its test.
Will Plusy send us emails or reminders?
Plusy sends only the email that confirms your address, a sign-in code when you ask for one, and a password reset. There are no reminders, notifications or progress emails.
