The five roads and their worlds
Plusy has five roads, Addition, Subtraction, Times tables, Division and Fractions, with 53 worlds between them. All five roads are open from the first day, and each world opens when the test of the world before it is passed.
What are the five roads?
The five roads in Plusy are Addition, Subtraction, Times tables, Division and Fractions. Each road is a line of worlds that starts with the easiest questions and gets harder one world at a time, and each keeps its own place. Your child can switch between roads at any time, and switching is free.
| Road | Worlds, in order |
|---|---|
| Addition (7 worlds) | Adding to 5, Adding to 10, Adding to 20, Two-digit adding, Adding with carrying, Three-digit adding, Four-digit adding. |
| Subtraction (7 worlds) | Subtracting within 5, within 10 and within 20, Two-digit taking away, Taking away with borrowing, Three-digit taking away, Four-digit taking away. |
| Times tables (15 worlds) | The 1 times table as a short stop, then the 2, 10, 5, 3, 4, 8, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables, then Two digits times one, Two digits times two, Three digits times two. |
| Division (14 worlds) | Dividing by 2, 10, 5, 3, 4, 8, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12, then Three digits ÷ one, Four digits ÷ one, Dividing by two digits. |
| Fractions (10 worlds) | Parts of a whole, On the number line, Equal fractions, Which is bigger?, Simplest form, Add and subtract, Mixed numbers, Fractions bigger than 1, Different bottom numbers, Adding mixed numbers. See the Fractions road. |
The later worlds on the four whole-number roads are worked in columns: see questions worked in columns.
Four roads are whole numbers only, and every division on them comes out even. The Fractions road covers fractions and mixed numbers. There are no decimals or negative answers.
What is inside a world?
A world in Plusy is a row of levels: several parts, then a mixed level called All of them, then a Test. A part teaches a handful of facts, four or five at a time. On the Fractions road a part is a few questions of one kind, such as halves and quarters. All of them mixes the facts of the whole world, and the test checks them.
Levels are played in order. A finished level can be replayed by tapping it: a replay is free and pays nothing.
How does the next world open?
The next world opens when your child passes the test at the end of the current world. A test asks up to 12 of the world's facts, typed, with no second chances, and it passes at 10 of 12 right first time. Passing puts a trophy on the road and pays extra coins.
A test uses no heart and is not timed. If it is not passed, Plusy offers Try the test again.
How do we switch roads or look at all the worlds?
Roads are switched in the Worlds sheet. Tap the Worlds button on the card at the top of the road and Your journey opens, with the five roads as tiles at the top and one row per world.
Open the sheet
On Home, tap Worlds on the road's header card.
Pick a road
Tap one of the five tiles at the top: +, −, ×, ÷ or the small 1/2 for Fractions. The name of the chosen road is shown beside the tiles.
Pick a world
Tap Go to this world on an open world, or Take the test on one that is not open yet. The button at the bottom keeps your child where they are.
Can my child skip worlds they already know?
Yes. Your child can skip ahead by taking a test for a world that is not open yet. In the Worlds sheet, tap Take the test on that world. The test has 12 typed questions drawn from the worlds before it, and passing at 10 of 12 opens that world and every world before it.
This test uses no heart. It also pays nothing: the skipped worlds give no coins or trophies.
Where does my child start, and can we change it?
Your child starts where their age and the first placement round put them. A 6 year old starts at the first world of each road, and an older child starts further along. Fractions is the exception: every child starts it at its first world. Worlds before the starting world count as done. The road shown first is Addition for ages 6 and 7, and Times tables from 8.
Placement happens once. Changing the age later in Settings does not move the roads. To move forward, take a test in the Worlds sheet. To go back to easier work, tap Go to this world on an earlier world, or replay its levels.
Questions
Why do the times tables start with 2, 10 and 5?
The times tables road follows the order schools usually teach them: 2, 10, 5, 3, 4, 8, 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12.
Does my child have to finish addition before starting times tables?
No. All five roads are open from the first day and each keeps its own place. A child can do a level of addition and then a level of times tables in the same sitting.
What happens when a road is finished?
When every world on a road is finished, the green button on that road becomes Play a mixed round. It plays a mixed level from a random world of the road, as a free replay.
My child failed a world's test. What now?
Nothing is lost and no heart is used. The result screen lists the missed facts, each with a trick. Replay a level for practice, then tap Try the test again when your child is ready.
