What does Plusy say aloud, and when?

Plusy says the whole fact aloud after every answer to a basic fact, right or wrong: "seven times eight is fifty-six". It speaks after the answer, never before, so the voice confirms the fact without giving it away. Tapping Continue cuts the voice short, so it never runs over the next question.

The basic facts are adding two numbers from 1 to 10 and the matching subtractions, and the 1 to 12 times tables with their divisions. Bigger questions, such as two-digit sums, are silent after the answer.

A list's pageTapping a question says that fact, for basic facts.

The spoken facts are recordings made once. Nothing is generated while your child plays.

What is "Hear it"?

Hear it is a button on hints and walkthroughs that reads the explanation aloud. Hints and walkthroughs are silent text by default, and nothing in them plays by itself. A child who reads comfortably can ignore the button, and a child who does not can tap it.

Each sentence is read whole. Plusy uses its own recordings when it has them for the whole sentence, and otherwise the device's own voice reads it, for example when a sentence contains a large number. That device voice is the phone's or browser's own and sends nothing to Plusy.

Is praise read aloud?

Praise is text by default. While your child solves, a step done right can get a short line that names the skill, such as That carry was all you!. To hear these lines too, turn on Read praise aloud in the settings for grown-ups. It is off for every account until you turn it on, and it is kept on your child's profile.

Where is the Voice switch?

The Voice switch is in the settings for grown-ups, under Sounds. It is on by default. Turning it off silences the spoken facts and removes the Hear it button.

1

Open the You tab

Tap You in the tabs.

2

Open Grown-ups, then Settings

The Grown-ups card is for parents: settings and the account.

3

Find Sounds

The Voice row reads Says basic facts aloud after an answer. Choose On or Off.

The Voice switch is kept on the device, not in the account. Turning it off on the family tablet does not turn it off on a phone, so set it on each device your child uses.

Which languages does the voice speak?

The voice follows the language chosen for the screen. Facts are spoken in every app language except Burmese; in Burmese Plusy shows all its text and stays silent, and Settings says the voice isn't available yet. Hear it reads hints in English and Hebrew. To change it, tap the flag at the top of the app and pick from Languages. There is no separate setting for the voice's language.

Why is there no "Hear it" button?

The Hear it button appears only when three things are true: the Voice switch is on, the app is in English or Hebrew (the two languages with hint recordings so far), and the device has a voice for that language. If any one is missing, Plusy shows no button rather than a button that does nothing.

Why can I not hear anything?

If Plusy is silent, first check the Voice switch, then the device itself. The volume has to be up, and it is worth checking that the phone or tablet is not muted or in silent mode. Headphones that are still connected are a common cause.

Silence can also be normal. Only basic facts are spoken, the speed run says nothing, and hints wait for Hear it. If the voice is missing on basic facts with Voice on and the volume up, see troubleshooting or write to support@plusy.app.

Questions

Does Plusy listen to my child or use the microphone?

No. Plusy records nothing. It never uses the microphone and has no speaking game. The voice only plays, in one direction.

Are there sound effects or music?

No. Plusy has no sound effects and no music, and a wrong answer has no buzzer. The only sound is the voice, which is why the Sounds settings hold a single Voice row.

Can my child play in a quiet room or a classroom?

Yes. Turn Voice off in Settings, or lower the device volume. Nothing in Plusy needs sound: every fact, hint and explanation is also on screen as text.

Why does the voice sound different on some hints?

Plusy reads a hint with its own recordings when it has them for the whole sentence. When it does not, for example with numbers above 144, the device's own voice reads the whole sentence instead.

Is the voice made by AI while my child plays?

No. The spoken facts are recordings made once and played back. Nothing is generated during a round, and the device voice used by Hear it runs on your own phone or browser.
